The personal arcana can help you reflect on how you behave in relationships, but it does not prove compatibility or describe the other person. Use your own card to notice your patterns, and only calculate someone else's if they share their birth date themselves.
Start with your card, not the other person's
The healthiest use of the personal arcana in relationships is to look at yourself. Someone with The Lovers can ask how their romantic choices reflect their values. Someone with The Emperor can ask where the need for structure turns into rigidity with the people they love.
These questions depend only on you, and require no information from anyone else. They also avoid the habit of analyzing the other person instead of working on what is within your reach.
Why you shouldn't guess someone's birth date
Guessing the date of someone you barely know, or looking up someone's date without telling them, is not a good idea. The result would be made up, and you would risk projecting onto them a label they never chose.
If the topic comes up naturally and the person wants to share, that is fine. In that case, the calculation is the same: month, day and digits of the year, reduced down to 22. Respect it if they are not interested, or disagree with the reading.
