Symbolism
A skeleton wrapped in a dark hooded cloak holds a scythe in one hand and an hourglass at its waist. The scythe cuts and the hourglass marks passing time. The image speaks of endings and passages, of cycles that close so others can begin, and not of a fate marked for anyone.
- Meaning
- Death shows something coming to an end: a phase, a habit, a bond or a way of seeing things. It speaks of loss and of grieving what has passed, but also of the transformation that only happens after a closure. Next to another card, it marks that theme as a turning point, where one stage closes and asks for something new to take its place.
- Love
- It may indicate the end of a stage in the relationship, a farewell or the need to let go of a story that has done its part. Give grief its time, because it is what makes room for a new beginning.
- Work & money
- A professional cycle ends, such as a project, a position or a way of working, and the change tends to be necessary. With money, it is time to cut what no longer works and reorganize your budget.
- As a person
- Someone going through a major transformation or loss, or a figure who stands for the farewell to a phase of life.
- Advice
- Accept the closure, allow yourself to feel the loss and make room for what comes next.
