Symbolism
A ragged man in a wide-brimmed hat and stubble climbs a step with his back turned, glancing over his shoulder, a bundle in one hand and another hanging from a stick. He moves off hurriedly and warily so as not to be noticed. The image stands for loss, diversion and something slipping out of your hands.
- Meaning
- The Thief warns that something may be taken from you: money, time, energy or credit, through your own carelessness or someone else's opportunism. It is a warning to protect what is yours, not a sentence. Next to another card, it shows where the gap is and where that card's theme needs more care.
- Love
- Beware of people who approach out of self-interest, of promises that do not hold up, and of situations where you give more than you receive. Set clear limits and watch whether actions match words.
- Work & money
- Review contracts, passwords, accounts and agreements, and be wary of anyone who pushes for speed. With money, there is a risk of loss through carelessness or a scam, so check everything twice.
- As a person
- An opportunistic or unreliable person, or someone in need who acts without scruples.
- Advice
- Protect what is yours, check the details and be wary of haste and easy promises.
