Gossip is card 9 of the Sibyl of the Salons (“Caquets” in the French original). It speaks of gossip, rumours and small talk. It is a warning card. For timing, it suggests: fast, spreads within days.

Symbolism
Two older women in bonnets stand close together in conversation: one gestures and talks while the other listens with arms folded. One of them holds a broom, and high on the wall hangs a cage with a yellow bird. The card stands for chatter, the rumour that passes from mouth to mouth.
- Meaning
- Gossip warns that comments, rumours and chatter are circulating, and that someone's reputation may be affected. Not everything you hear is true, and what is told tends to grow along the way. Next to another card, it shows the matter that is on everyone's lips and calls for discretion.

- Comments from third parties can cause jealousy and distrust between two people. Trust what the other person tells you directly more than what you heard through the grapevine.

- There is buzz in the workplace, and your professional image needs care. With money, do not decide based on rumours and confirm information at the source.
