Symbolism
A curly-haired man sits sideways on a straw chair, seen from behind and in profile, legs crossed and a cane in his hand. His red coat is draped over the back of the chair, and his gaze looks ahead. It is the portrait of the person at the center of the reading: the figure around whom the other cards are arranged.
- Meaning
- The Querent (Man) is the card of the man for whom the cards are laid, and it shows where he stands and what surrounds him right now. The cards that fall close to it describe what is around him: influences, people, worries and opportunities. Next to another card, it brings that card close to the querent's life and shows how that theme touches him directly.
- Love
- It shows the male querent at the center of the matter of the heart, with his wishes, fears and attitudes. The neighboring cards indicate who or what is close to his heart.
- Work & money
- It shows where he stands in his professional and financial life, and the surrounding cards reveal what helps or hinders. When it appears in a small spread, it brings the focus back to what he himself can do.
- As a person
- The querent himself, the man the reading is for, and sometimes someone very close who stands in for him.
- Advice
- Look at your own position and your own choices before looking at everything else.
