# Delay Sibyl card meaning

> Delay is card 36 of the Sibyl of the Salons (“Retard” in the French original). It speaks of delay, wait and obstacle. It is a warning card. For timing, it suggests: slow, weeks or months.

- **Number:** 36
- **Original title:** Retard
- **Playing card:** A♠
- **Keywords:** delay, wait, obstacle, patience, postponement, slowdown
- **Timing:** slow, weeks or months

## Symbolism

In a scene of classical dress, one woman stoops to pick something up from the ground while another hurries away, her scarf flying. The image conveys a step left behind and something slow to resolve.

## Meaning

Delay indicates that something will take longer than expected: a setback, a postponement or a reply that does not come. It does not mean the road is closed, only that the pace is slower and calls for patience. Next to another card, it slows down its theme and pushes back its outcome.

## Love

An answer, a meeting or a decision is slow to come. Use the time to understand what you feel, without pressuring the other person.

## Work & money

Deadlines may slip, and processes and payments may run late. Start early, keep the people involved informed and have a plan B.

## As a person

Someone slow to decide or who tends to put off commitments.

## Advice

Be patient, adjust your deadlines and use the wait to prepare better.
