PremiumWhat the Baralho Cigano is
The Baralho Cigano — known worldwide as the Petit Lenormand — is a 36-card oracle of everyday symbols: the rider, the house, the heart, the key. It was born in Germany in the early 19th century and took the name of the famous French cartomancer Marie-Anne Lenormand.
In Brazil it became one of the most beloved forms of cartomancy. Unlike tarot, its cards are direct and practical, and the secret lies in the combinations: every card changes meaning according to its neighbour.
How to read it
- There are no reversals: every card is read upright.
- Cards are read in pairs — the first is the subject, the second qualifies it (Rider + Heart = news of love).
- The Man (28) and the Woman (29) can represent you, the querent, and the cards around them show what is closest.
- Each card has a polarity — positive, negative or neutral — that sets the tone of a combination.
